- Hiya all
-
- A question. In what ways is SCSI better than IDE? I'm looking to finally get a
- CD-Rom drive y'see, and I'm stuck. I've got a Viper-1 board in my A1200, and I
- could get a SCSI module for that. But at 80UKP it's a tad expensive. Add to
- that the cheapest drive I've seen (120ukp) and that's 200 quid's worth of
- hardware. But with IDE, I can get a drive (Mitsumi FX-400 Quad) and some
- software (AsimCDFS 3) for under 100ukp. Is this the bagain it seems to be?
- I've checked out the drive, it's Atapi compliant and the software will run it.
-
- And what's the maximum length for an IDE cable? Mines getting on for 30cm at
- present, and I'll need a longer one if I get a IDE. Prolly about 5-10cm
- longer.
-
- Cheers
-
